Unbeaten 126 by Gary KirstenGary Kirsten struck timely form to register a record 10th century as South Africa fought back on the fourth day of the third Test at Kingsmead yesterday. His unbeaten 126 saw South Africa, who were forced to follow-on 210 runs behind, end the day on 251 for four, a lead of 41. Kirsten's eight-hour effort took him past the nine centuries South African record he shared with Dudley Nourse and Daryll Cullinan. It was his third hundred against England and was studded with eight fours. Late in the day, however, medium-pacer Andrew Flintoff took two wickets in three balls to raise the tourists' hopes of squaring the series, which South Africa lead 1-0, after Kirsten and Jacques Kallis put on 152 for the second wicket. Kallis made 69 off 204 balls before being caught behind off Darren Gough with the second new ball. He went to the wicket early in the day with the score 41 for one after Herschelle Gibbs was caught by Darren Maddy for 28 off first innings hero Andrew Caddick. It was Caddick's eighth wicket of the match. Flintoff finished with two for 31 off 20 overs. Agencies
