China finish thirdFormer Asian Games champions China waged a grim battle to down neighbours Japan 1-0 and claim the bronze medal in the Hero Honda fourth women's Asia Cup hockey tournament in Delhi today. Earlier, debutantes Kazakhstan tasted their second win of the tournament when they overpowered Malaysia 4-3 to finish fifth. In the league stage Kazakhstan had beaten Malaysia 4-2. Malaysia ended at the bottom of the table without any points. The contest for bronze medal was listless affair and though China dominated the proceedings they had to wait till the 60th minute to score the match-winner. The all-important goal was scored by Yang Huiping. UNI
