Unbeaten century by Connor Williams

An immaculate, unbeaten 105 by opener Connor Williams and his 156-run first wicket partnership with Wasim Jaffer (69) enabled West Zone's score 254 for two on the opening day of the Duleep Trophy cricket semi-final against East Zone at Eden Gardens in Calcutta today.

Besides Jaffer, the only other wicket West lost today was that of Abhijit Kale, who made 24.

At stumps, Williams and skipper Amol Mazumdar were batting on 105 and 26 respectively.

Jaffer and Williams gave West a flying start after skipper mazumder called correctly and decided to bat.

Extracting full advantage of the placid wicket, they made mincemeat of East's medium pace attack of Javed Jaman and Ajoy Bark, who opened the attack for the hosts.
