Dutch sprinter tests positiveDutch sprinter Troy Douglas tested positive for steroids and has been removed from the Dutch team just two days before World Athletic Championships, reports quoting team sources said. Douglas, a 36-year-old Bermuda native who recently joined the Dutch squad to compete in the 100- and 200-metre dashes, tested positive for the steroid nandrolone yesterday. Douglas's removal from the World Championship field comes just a day after Jamaican veteran Merlene Ottey left the competition with a positive nandrolone test. Ottey, a two-times 200-metres champion, slammed the sensitive testing procedure in use and has vowed a fight to clear her name. Ottey's positive test came just two weeks after it was revealed that 1992 Olympic 100-metre champion Linford Christie was also caught for nandrolone abuse. The athletes protests of the testing procedure has been backed by some doctors who say the body produces enough nandrolene naturally that it could show up on a drugs test. UNI
