Agarkar's injury disappointing, says TendulkarIndia captain Sachin Tendulkar today described Ajit Agarkar's injury, which ruled him out of the Colombo-bound team for the tri-series against Sri Lanka and Australia, as "disappointing". Asked if Agarkar's absence will considerably weaken the bowling attack, Sachin said, "Any player getting injured is not good news." He confirmed that Bengal's Laxmi Ratan Shukla, who the selectors picked as Agarkar's replacement, joined the squad today. "He's a talented player, we have to see how he will perform," he said. Incidentally, neither coach Anshuman Gaekwad nor Tendulkar, who addressed the press yesterday after nets, disclosed Agarkar's injury and his replacement. It was only after newsmen got scent of it that the cricket manager confirmed the news. The four-day camp will conclude with a final session tomorrow. The team is scheduled to leave for Colombo on the morning of August 20. The tri-series will be played from August 22 to 31. The other tri-series in Singapore, involving India, the West Indies and Zimbabwe, is to be played from September 2 to 7. UNI
