Mansher Singh on target

Giving a superb display of marksmanship, Olympian Mansher Singh shot 74 out of a possible 75 to become the first Indian to win the prestigious Bednarik trap shooting competition in Foligno, Italy.

The Indian, who led the competition all through and on the last day yesterday, entred the field with a score of 190 out of 200 and was tied with World record-holder Titterli of Italy.

In the final round he shot a straight 25 out of 25 and was again tied with the Italian at 141.

However, in the sudden-death shoot-out, Mansher held his nerve, while Titterli missed the third bird, which the Indian shot down.

According to information, Mansher won the title with a total score of 215 out of 250 (23, 24, 25, 22, 22, 25, 24, 25).

Titterli won the silver, also with a score of 215, while another Italian shooter took the bronze, with a score of 214.

Apart from Mansher, two other Indians, Anwar Sultan and Zoravar Singh, participated in the competition. Anwar finished with a score of 175 out of 200, while Zoravar scored 172.
