S'Africa down India in hockey test

South Africa beat India 2-1 in the second Test of their five-match series at the Randburg Astro near Johannesburg on Sunday.

India took an early lead through a goal by Samir Dad in the 8th minute and it was only on the stroke of half time that the South Africans were able to equalise from a penalty corner variation by Justin King.

The second session was an evenly contested and, at times, ill-tempered affair, with the home side showing great composure in defence to thwart the Indian attack. In the 51st minute, Mike Cullen put SA 2-1 ahead to complete the scoring in the match and to give the South African team a well-earned victory.

Earlier, the first Test between the two teams had ended in a goalless draw.
