Harbajan for remedial action

Jemi Barodiwala

Harbhajan Singh, the eighteen-year-old offspinner, will leave for London next week for remedial measures regarding his allegedly suspect action.

Harbhajan will attend former British off spinner Fred Titmus's clinic on November second and third, BCCI president Raj Singh Dungarpur announced in Dhaka on Tuesday. All expenses for the trip will be born by the International Cricket Council, he added.

Harbhajan was not selected for the ongoing Wills International Cup in Dhaka because the ICC expressed reservations about his ''crooked'' elbow at the time of delivery. This was in response to adverse reports by Sri Lanka's Ranjan Madugalle, South African Peter Van der Merve, and Pakistan's Talat Ali, all of whom have been match referees at various times in Harbajan's short career.

This reprises the earlier instance of Rajesh Chauhan, when the ICC expressed similar reservations, sent Chauhan to the Titmus school at its expense, and then later came up with a statement clearing the off spinner.
