Paes-Bhupati dumped on grass

Indian hopes in the Wimbledon doubles event sank as Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupati, after waiting for three days for the rain to let up and permit play, crashed before the United States pairing of Justin Gimelstob and Brian Macphie.

A first set win did not, however, provide the Indian pair the momentum they needed to go all the way.

The final scores: 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
