TN police arrest Addl DGP, IAS officer in corruption cases
The Tamil Nadu police crime branch has arrested senior IAS officer A M Dyaneswaran and Additional Director General of Police Veeraraghavan in connection with corruption cases. They were remanded to judicial custody till September 10.
The IAS officer was chairman and managing director of the Tamil Nadu Minerals Corporation Ltd during the previous AIADMK regime. He has been accused of accepting bribes for awarding granite quarrying contracts.
The police official was arrested for alleged criminal misconduct and criminal breach of
trust committed during the purchase of fire-fighting equipment for
the Tamil Nadu Fire Services department during 1990-91, an official
statement said.
Veeraraghavan is the second person to be arrested in the
case. Former Fire Services director E Hariharan was earlier arrested in the case.
