Phoolan producers offer to make Veerappan film
Veerappan wanted a film made on his life. Now that wish may come true.
The Bombay-based Sree Bhavani Chitra Combine, which produced a box-office hit on Phoolan Devi, has offered to produce a movie on the sandalwood smuggler's life. Making the offer, SBCC producers Ashok Kamle and Rajiv Shriram Shetty appealed to Veerappan to immediately release the eight Karnataka forest personnel he had kidnapped on July 12.
Stating that they appreciated his decision to release ailing forester Raju last week, the producers urged Veerappan to co-operate with the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka governments in resolving the hostage crisis.
Both governments had turned down Veerappan's demand for general amnesty and his subsequent demand for Rs 50 million as ransom to release the hostages.
