Describing the attack by self-proclaimed moral police on youths in a Mangalore pub as an ugly and heinous incident, Janata Dal-Secular chief, H D Deve Gowda on Monday accused Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa of being responsible for "talibanisation" of Karnataka. "Yeddyurappa had promised Gujarat model of administration in Karnataka after assuming office. He has kept this promise as during his 200 days of rule, communal incidents have increased in all areas," Gowda told PTI.
Gowda said that in his long innings as a politician, he had never seen such deterioration in law and order in Karnataka.
"Even in Bangalore, there has been an increase in incidents of crime. There is no safety for the common man," Gowda said.
Twenty right-wing Sri Ram Sena activists had barged into a pub in Mangalore late on Saturday night and assaulted the people present there.
The activists alleged that the pub owner was allowing the boys and girls to dance in an obscene manner.
