Thirteen individuals from the Indian Diaspora have been conferred with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman at the seventh edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, underway in Chennai.
They are:
Ramdien Sardjoe, vice president, Suriname;
Angidi Veeriah, vice president, Mauritius;
Soman Baby, associate editor, Gulf Daily News, Bahrain;
Deepak Obhrai, MP, Canada [Images];
Ylias Akhbaraly, businessman, Madagascar;
Tan Sri Vadeveloo, Malaysian senate president;
Ram Lakhania, the Netherlands community leader;
PNC Menon, philanthropist, Oman;
Paramananthan Naidoo, member of mayoral committee, Johannesburg;
J R Ganga Ramani, Abu Dhabi;
Baroness Sheela Flather, first ethnic minority councilor, the UK;
Prof C K Prahalad, distinguished management consultant; and
Prof Sumit Ganguly, expert on South Asia.
