Vicki Treadell, deputy high commissioner, British deputy high commission, said no travel advisory had been issued against visiting India in the wake of terror attacks.

"People who come out of the hotels are in good health though they are in a state of shock. I can't confirm the number of people trapped in hotels," she said.

Treadell also said the British Red Cross is in Mumbai to assist its citizens recuperating in hospitals.

She said she visited four hospitals, where British citizens were admitted.

"At least two people's condition is serious," she said.

She, however, denied reports saying that a travel advisory not to visit India had been issued by the UK. But she said the advisory was applicable only to Mumbai.

Asked if US and UK citizens were specifically targetted, she said, "We have no specific information about that. But from what has happened it is clear that places which Westerners frequent have been targeted."
