The Budhni seat is witnessing an interesting campaign trail with Sadhna Singh -- wife of Chief Minister and BJP candidate Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Karuna Rajput - better half of Congress candidate Mahesh Rajput taking centrestage going door-to-door seeking votes for their husbands in the fray.
"Bhaiyya aur Bhabhiji apne Bhaiyya (Shivraj) ko bhoolna nahi (brother and sister-in-law do not forget your Bhaiyya (Shivraj)," says Sadhna while electioneering for Chouhan who is campaigning elsewhere in the state.
"Dhayan Rakhio aap seedhe pradesh ka mukhya mantri ko vote de rahe ho" (Remember you are directly voting for the Chief Minister) she tells the voters, amid sloganeering of BJP activists around "Madhya Pradesh [Images] ki awaj, phir bhaja phir Shivraj."
"Bhaiyyaji, Bhabhiji dhyan rakhna, yeh agar jeet jayenge to phir apki sudh lene yahn nahi aayange (brother and sister-in-law if he (Chouhan) wins elections, again he will not come here to lent an ear to your problem)," Karuna says while meeting the people.
"Sukhi nahar bijli gol, dekho Bhajpa ki khul gayee pol" (dry canal, no power has bared the real face of BJP), is the slogan she chants to woo the voters.
"I am coming here regularly since November 8. I leave my place in Bhopal around 9 am and reach here around 11 am sharp. I am seeking the blessings of the people so that Shivraj ji registers historic win from here," Sadhna told PTI.
"My husband has got innumerable works carried out in the Budhni constituency and we are just focusing on development issue," she says.
"I am hopeful that he will win the elections with the margin of over 50,000 votes," says Sadhna.
On the other hand, Karuna claims that her husband will win the election as corruption was galore in the area.
She says that BJP leaders have siphoned off huge amount of money in the development works.
Canals were dry for want for power and the farmers were not getting enough power to sow the Rabi crop, said Karuna.
