The Madhya Pradesh [Images] police have registered a First Information Report against Bharatiya Janata Party member of Parliament and former cricketer Navjyot Singh Sidhu for allegedly inciting religious feelings of the people while
delivering a poll speech at Kareli in Narsinghpur district on November 11.
Sidhu in an apparent bid to recall former minister Prahlad Patel and his brother and Bharatiya Jana Shakti party member of legislative assembly Jalam Singh Patel to their parent party, BJP, said that if they come back to the saffron party then it would be like returning to their mother's lap, Narsinghpur superintendent of Police A Sai Manohar told media-persons on Monday.
However, Sidhu allegedly told the people that in case they vote for the BJS then it amounts to a sin comparable to eating beef, the SP said.
After analysing Siddhu's speech and on the complaint of the BJS candidate, the police registered an FIR against Siddhu
under section 171 of the IPC.
The compaint along with the FIR has been submitted in the court on Monday for further directions. After the court's direction the matter will be further investigated.
