The death toll in an accident involving a bus carrying 100 passengers including 35 Indian pilgrims in Nepal has reached 36, as more bodies were pulled out of the water on Tuesday.
The overcrowded bus carrying mostly Buddhist pilgrims to a religious fair had plunged into the Rapti river in Dang district of north-west Nepal on Monday.
The death toll is expected to rise further as some passengers are still missing and rescue efforts are still on with the help of army personnel, policemen and local fishermen, the police said.
Out of 37 people who were injured, 24 have returned home after treatment while 13 are still in hospital, the police said.
It was not yet clear whether the dead included any Indians.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Nepal, seven passengers were killed and 36 others injured when a bus heading towards Gorkha district from Pokhara met with an accident in Tanhu district.
