Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Vinay Katiyar has organised a rally by sadhus to protest the recent wave of terror attacks. At least 20,000 sadhus are expected to attend the rally, which will be held in Ayodhya on Monday.
The move comes in the wake of last week's serial blasts in Jaipur that killed 64 people.
"Our objective behind organising this rally is to focus the attention of the people of the country towards the apathy of the United Progressive Alliance government towards the innocent people of the country, who fall victim to acts of terror," Katiyar told rediff.com.
Katiyar, who once spearheaded the Ayodhya temple movement as founder of the Bajrang Dal, added, "A large number of sadhus have already arrived in Ayodhya for the rally."
Blaming the Centre for the rise in terrorism, he said, "It is because of the Congress-led UP government's policy of minority appeasement that effective steps could not be taken against terrorist outfits, which were thriving with the open patronage of our neighbouring countries."
"The government's decision to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act was also responsible for giving further rise to terrorism," he added.
Surprisingly, no prominent BJP leader is expected to join the protest rally on Monday.
