Congress chief Sonia Gandhi [Images] has promised to get the travel documents issued to Sarabjit Singh's family to enable them to travel to Pakistan.

Sarabjit has been sentenced to death for his alleged involvement in four bomb blasts in Pakistan in 1990.

"She said she has spoken to the authorities to get the travel documents for his wife,  two daughters and I,' Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjit's sister, told rediff.com.

Subsequently, the family filled the travel documents and handed over to the authorities.

Pakistan's Human Rights Minister Ansar Burney while talking to a TV channel offered to host the family and even arrange a meeting with Sarabjit Singh in the Kot Lakhpat jail.

But he made it clear that he would help Sarabjit Singh if only he is found to be innocent.

"If he is guilty of killing people, I would have nothing to do with him. I have reached Lahore [Images] to go through the documents that are available with the lawyer of Sarabjit. Not much should be read in the black warrant issued against him because even in the case of Kashmir Singh black warrant had been issued, but never carried out. I hope the Indian government would respond to my appeal to release Pakistanis who are languishing in Pakistani jails and some of them face death. If we get good response then things could move further," he said.
