Initiating troubleshooting mission, AICC leaders on Thursday air-dashed to Goa [Images] to assess the situation even as the Goa Cabinet recommended to the Speaker to prorogue the Legislative Assembly.
The seven-month-old Digamabar Kamat government had plunged into a minority with its alliance partner NCP and an independent legislator Vishwajit Rane withdrawing support.
In a bid to salvage the situation, AICC general secretary Hari Prasad along with Siddharth Patel arrived in Goa on Thursday.
Congress sources confirmed that the leaders will meet the Chief Minister and that the party has launched all out efforts to woo back dissident Congress legislators.
The party is also making attempts to ensure that Congress legislators don't resign from the House, they said.
The sources also confirmed that Congress legislator Shyam Satardekar is likely to quit as MLA.
Meanwhile, NCP leader Praful Patel is also arriving in Goa.
"We are not sure of his agenda, but he will meet the party legislators," NCP Goa spokesman Surendra Furtado said.
The Congress camp is left with 18 legislators while NCP has three, MGP (2), Independent (1), UGDP (1) and BJP (14).
Independent legislator Anil Salgaonkar has not clarified his stand so far.
