It will take two to three days to bring Amit Kumar, kidney transplant racket kingpin arrested in Nepal, back to India, Joint Commissioner of Police of Gurgaon Manjit Alawat said on Thursday night.

The process of bringing Kumar back to India is going to take some time because of formalities involved in the process, official sources in New Delhi said.

The process begins with officials of the Indian Embassy getting consular access to meet the arrested person and establishing his identity.

It is only after a positive identification that India will request Nepal for extradition of the arrested person, a spokesman of Indian Embassy told PTI in Kathmandu.

India and Nepal have a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty signed in 1953 on transfer of persons arrested for some alleged crime in each other's territory.

A court in Nepal has to be moved where it will have to be proved that the arrested person is prima facie guilty of the crime he is charged with.
