Close on the heels of the killing of top Al Qaeda [Images] leader Abu Laith al-Libi in Pakistan's North Waziristan region, an American Al Qaeda militant has been killed in the same region, media reports said.

Adam Gadahn, also known as Azzam al-Amriki, was reportedly killed in an attack by a US Predator drone on a house near Mir Ali, one of the main towns of North Waziristan, a few days ago, The News reported on Thursday.

Gadahn, a 32-year-old American from southern California, has been accused by the US of praising the perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks and attending Al Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan's tribal areas.

Sources told the newspaper that American officials had reportedly shared information with Western media about Gadahn being killed in an air strike on a home at Khushali Torikhel village near Mir Ali town.

Sources said Gadahn, who was reportedly spending much of his time in Afghanistan and Pakistan's tribal areas along the Afghan border, had reached Mir Ali for an important meeting with other senior Al Qaeda commanders for planning the "spring offensive" against US and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

However, it was not immediately known whether he was killed in the same missile strike that claimed the lives of Libi and 11 other foreign militants.

US military officials based in Afghanistan are collecting details about those who died in the attack that killed Libi through their spy planes, which were spotted flying over the area after the missile strike.

Local tribesmen were kept at bay by hundreds of armed militants, who collected the bodies of Libi and the other insurgents and buried them.

Pakistani authorities have maintained that they have no information on the missile strike at Khushali Torikhel or the death of Libi.

The US Department of State had offered a reward of $1 million for Gadahn, who was indicted by an American court in 2006 for treason for aiding an enemy of the country.
