In a swift joint operation, personnel from the Army and Meghalaya police nabbed six militants belonging to the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) in the state on Wednesday afternoon.
An Army source said the ULFA ultras were travelling in a vehicle from Garo hills areas of Meghalaya to Western Assam district of Goalpara.
Acting on specific information, the joint team of Army and Meghalaya police arrested the militants at Depa and recovered two revolvers, two Chinese-made grenades, two crude bombs, five mobile phones, one digital camera and Rs 2.13 lakh in cash from them.
Security sources said ULFA militants often take shelter in two Garo hills districts of Meghalaya bordering Assam to dodge the intensified counter-insurgency operations.
