Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will pay a three-day visit to New Delhi [Images] from December 4 to attend the annual bilateral summit, becoming the first head of the state to undertake the trip following the Mumbai attacks.

Closer bilateral interaction in combating international and cross-border terrorism is expected to top the agenda of the Russian President's talks in New Delhi.

Medvedev will visit New Delhi between December 4 and December 6 for the annual Indo-Russia summit and the formal conclusion of the 'Year of Russia' [Images] in India, the Kremlin announced today.

Local experts underscore that Medvedev's maiden India visit, which comes soon after the Mumbai terror attacks [Images] that claimed 183 lives, should be seen as an expression of solidarity with the people and leadership of India.

On Sunday, Medvedev had telephoned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and expressed solidarity and sympathy with the people of India and vowed to closely interact with New Delhi in combating terror threat to both the countries.
