The Jharkhand Assembly will meet on August 25 when Chief Minister Madhu Koda will seek to prove his majority.
The Koda-led coalition government fixed the date after the governor had on August 18 directed it to prove its majority on the floor of the house by August 25 after Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, a 17-member party, withdrew support from the United Progressive Alliance coalition.
The governor gave his assent to a one-day sitting of the Assembly on August 25. The chances of the chief minister securing a majority in the confidence vote looks bleak after the Congress announced on Tuesday that it will go along with JMM in the house.
JMM President Shibu Soren said on Thursday in New Delhi [Images] that Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad assured him of the RJD's support.
