Even before the final list of candidates of the Congress was announced, a tussle has arisen within the party.

Around 100 women from the Congress took out a snap protest in from the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office on Wednesday demanding that they be given more representation in the party.

The protest led by senior Congress leader and former minister Rani Satish lasted for half an hour before a senior Congress leader came out and assured them of the best he could do.

The protest took place even before the Congress had finalised the list.

According to the Congress women, they had an inkling that there was no representation for women in the party and no tickets were being handed out to them. They demanded that the final list should have more representation for women failing, which they will continue their protest.

The Congress leaders who were meeting at the KPCC office to finalise the list had to change location thanks to this protest. It was clear that they were embarrassed and did not expect an inter-party tussle especially at a time when they are trying to put up a united front.

All leaders left the KPCC office immediately and headed off to a resort where they would finalise the list. The final list of candidates is expected to be out by 5 pm. It would be then sent to New Delhi for a final approval.
