April Fool's Day saw Sachin Tendulkar [Images] retiring from cricket, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh losing his job and Shahrukh Khan [Images] going in for a role in a Marathi movie.

Two prominent Marathi newspapers hit upon these ideas for April Fool's day.

Loksatta, which also brings out an edition from the capital, shocked readers with its lead story informing about the 'coup' against Deshmukh by his bete noire Narayan Rane, with blessings from the Congress high command.

Incidentally, Deshmukh's fate as Chief Minister has been 'sealed' many a times by newspapers from Mumbai. If he continues till October, he will complete four years in office.

The news about Tendulkar's decision to 'pack up' appeared in Sakal, which also carried a report about Shah Rukh's Khan's [Images] plans to act in a Marathi movie.

The daily has taken pains to point out to the reader at the end that it was April Fool's Day.

The sting is in the tail in the Loksatta report on Deshmukh, where a person suddenly exclaims that the date is April 1!

Sakal also regaled readers with a story on the remake of Bollywood blockbuster Sholay [Images] by its original director Ramesh Sippy, after the disastrous attempt by Ramgopal Varma last year.
