Flood victims in Bihar's Begusarai district on Monday looted cattle-feed from a goods train coming from outside state to save their cattle, many of which had died of hunger.

Police sources said villagers broke open a rail rake when the train stopped at Salona Railway station near Bakhri in Begusarai district on its way to deliver relief to other flood-hit areas.

A railway official at Begusarai railway station confirmed the incident. Sources also added that officials of the local administration and Railways were present.

In the first week of September, flood victims had looted cattle feed in Khagaria district.

According to an official figure, not less than 1000 cattle starved to death in the state and floods victims were forced to sell hundreds of cattle to slaughter houses.

In one month, victims have attacked over a dozen government officials, held violent protests and blocked roads over insufficient relief that has been provided to them.

Over 22 million people in nearly 10,000 villages spread in 20 districts have been hit by floods.
