Bharatiya Janata Party Rajya Sabha member of Parliament Surinder Singh Ahluwalia has asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] to intervene and protect the lives of hundreds of Indians who are being killed by Maoists in Nepal in the last couple of days.

"Coming from Bihar, I am pained at the manner in which Indians living in the plains of the area are being brutually killed by the Maoists. The government must come active and tell Nepal that this will not do," Ahulwalia told rediff.com on Saturday evening.

Ahluwalia asked Communist Party of India-Marxist leaders like Prakash Karat and Sitaram Yechury to activate their contacts with Prachanda and the Nepalese government to protect Indians.

"Till the British drew up a line, Nepal was part of India. Majority of the victims will naturally come to Bihar," he said.

He pointed out that Maoists forced Swami Ramdev to cancel his discourse.

"Though we are told that he will hold the discourse on Sunday, who knows what turn the situation may take there," Ahluwalia said.

He alleged that Chinese influence is mainly responsible for the killings of Indians living in plains.
