Perhaps in a hurry to form its first government in South India, an irked Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka has issued a veiled warning to the 'slowgoing' Governor Rameshwar Thakur.

"Invite us in 24 hours. Else, we will go to people and seek justice," that is what the BJP said in a letter to the governor.
It is not clear, however, what the party meant by the statement. Was it a threat? BJP sources refused to explain. 

The letter signed by party president Sadananda Gowda has urged him to send a positive report to the Union Cabinet. The letter also says that B S Yediyurappa has shown his strength by parading the supporting MLAs at the Raj Bhavan and hence he should be invited over to form the government. The letter also urges the governor to explain in
detail the reality of the situation in the state.

While this is the stand taken by the BJP, the Congress is still hopeful of the House being dissolved. The Congress says the JD(S)-BJP combine does not fit the bill of an alternative government and also the two parties cannot provide stability.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also urged former prime minister and JD-S leader H D Deve Gowda to send another letter to the governor, on the formation of the government.

 The BJP thinks it is necessary for Gowda to write another letter as his earlier letter seeks the imposition of President's rule in the state.

The BJP feels that Gowda's October 24 letter could be used against them for the formation of the government.
