West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharya on Sunday said the Communist Party of India-Marxist would guard against the creation of a Nandigram-like similar situation anywhere in the state.

He said peace had been restored in Nandigram and the situation was fast returning to normal.

Addressing an open session of the Darjeeling district conference of the Communist Party of India-Marxist in Siliguri, Bhattacharya said his party "would guard against creation of a similar situation (Nandigram-like) anywhere in the future in the state."

The proposed chemical hub had already been shifted to Nayachar from Nandigram and the work would start shortly, he said.

Bhattacharya claimed that the "right-thinking" people of Nandigram were now regretting the government's decision to shift the proposed chemical hub as it could bring about a perceptible socio-economic change in the area.

Without naming Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee, Bhattacharya said a "one-person ruled party" was trying to mislead a section of the people who were opposing the state government's development policy.

Referring to the violence and ongoing bandh in Darjeeling, he said the need of the hour was to restore peace and normalcy.
