The Communist Party of India-Marxist wrote an open letter to Members of Parliament to draw their attention to developments in Nandigram.
The 16-page leaftlet gave the names of 27 members of the party who had been killed in the ongoing conflict with the Trinamool Congress headed by Mamata Banerjee since early this year.
The letter chides the governor and the role played by him on the Nandigram issue.
"The governor of West Bengal came out with a public statement on November 6 without prior discussion with the state government. His statement also uses language which does not befit his high post," the leaflet said which has been signed by Sitaram Yechury from the Rajya Sabha and Basudeb Acharaya from the Lok Sabha.
Addressing a press conference, Yechury said the Bharatiya Janata Party was taking out its frustration by resorting to disruption of the proceedings of the House because its own government in Karnataka was under threat of falling.
This was denied by Sushma Swaraj, senior leader of the BJP. "Karnataka has got nothing to do with Nandigram. We may be able to survive the threat to our government in the Karnataka," she said optimistically.
Swaraj also took on YechurY on whether Nandigram could be discussed in Parliament or not.
"Let me tell you that the Gujarat law and order situation was discussed at least 20 times and both the Houses of Parliament condemned the violence. Over 300 people were killed in the police firing. Here, not a single person was killed in Nandigram by the police firing. Why is the Communist Party of India-Marxist afraid to discuss the issue?" she asked.
National Democratic Alliance leaders will meet in Parliament House on Tuesday morning to discuss the future course of action.
