A section of the Bharatiya Janata Party is upset with former prime minister and Janata Dal-Secular chief H D Deve Gowda and have asked the party high command to ask the Centre to dissolve the assembly presently under suspended animation.

Gowda had not withdrawn his earlier letter written to Governor Rameshwar Thakur informing him that the party had decided not to support B S Yediyurappa as the next chief minister.

Even before the governor could take action, Gowda dashed off a letter to BJP chief Rajnath Singh with eleven conditions and specifying that any arrangement to form a joint government will last till the Lok Sabha polls and that the BJP would have to assure him it would remain secular in its actions and protect the rights of the minority community.

BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad welcomed the statement issued by CPM general secretary that in the last five days the Union government should have been able to take a decision on the installation of a popular government in the state when there is clear majority in favour of Yediyurappa with the JD-S supporting BJP.
