At least 50 Maoist cadres have been missing since the bloody clash between cadres of CPN-Maoist and the Madhesi People's Rights Forum in Nepal's Rautahat district, bordering India that left at least 29 rebels dead.

The missing Maoists might have fled the incident site in Gaur district to save their lives, the National News Agency quoted the Maoist local commander Vindheshwor Ray Yadav as saying.

After the clash on Wednesday, 29 dead bodies were recovered from the site and 40 Maoists, who sustained injuries have been admitted to the local hospital for treatment. The condition of 15 of them is said to be serious.

Yadav has sought help from the media persons and human rights activists to search for the missing cadres.

Meanwhile, leaders of eight political parties, including Nepali Congress, CPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress (Democratic) paid homage to the deceased Maoists, whose bodies were kept at Tundikhel Open Ground before taking out a procession.

The dead bodies were then taken to Pashupati Aryaghat, where they were cremated as per the Hindu tradition.

Security forces of India and Nepal on Friday discussed the situation in the border town of Gaur following the bloody clashes that left 29 people dead.
