Harbans Kapoor, six times Bharatiya Janata Party legislator, was on Monday formally elected the new Speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly.As no other nomination was received, it became clear on Sunday that Kapoor would be the Speaker, officials said Kapoor has never lost assembly elections and won for a record sixth time in a row from Dehra Dun. Immediately after the elections, Chief Minister B C Khanduri and other leaders congratulated Kapoor saying he would maintain the dignity of the office.
