Election officials said the polling started in all 59 booths peacefully as voters lined up since dawn to cast their ballots to elect 2 MLAs.

Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer C J Ponraj told UNI that some 35,459 voters in two districts of Dimapur and Tuensang are expected to cast voter during daylight.

While Dimapur-I seat has 17,155 voters would cast their ballots in 38 polling stations spread over seven wards of Dimapur town.

In Tuensang Sadar II Assembly constituency, a total of 18,304 voters would exercise their franchise in 21 polling stations spreading over 14 villages.

A four-layer security arrangement has been made deploying the CRPF, Nagaland Armed Police, District Executive Force and Indian Reserve Battalion. All the polling stations would be guarded by the CRPF jawans.
