The fourth round of talks between the Rajasthan government and Gujjar leaders to find a solution to the quota imbroglio was inconclusive tonight, but the two sides will return for a 'final round' on Saturday.

"The final round of talks will be held with Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday, at around 1300 hours, to find an amicable solution to the issue," Digamber Singh, chief of the four-member ministerial committee representing the government, told media persons.

The state government wanted to sort out the matter but due to Friday's clash in Lalsot between Gujjars and Meenas, in which four persons were killed, the meeting was delayed, the Medical and Health Minister added.

Roop Singh, head of the Gujjar delegation, said: "It would be a real final round of talks, and if after that nothing comes out, it will be the sole responsibility of the state government to face the consequences."

Roop Singh claimed the BJP government dithered to offer any solution to their demand because of the clashes that erupted between Gujjars and Meenas.

Home Minister G C Kataria, who participated as a special invitee, said the state government really wanted to address the Gujjars' issue but the Meena-Gujjar clash 'dampened the spirit.'

Talking to PTI, one of the Gujjar representatives, requesting anonymity, claimed that Kataria had assured them to hand over the recommendation letter on the ST status but due to stiff opposition from Meena legislators and ministers, the government 'developed cold feet' on Friday night.
