There was no mention of Governor's sanction being sought by the CBI to prosecute Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, an accused in the Taj Corridor case, before a special court on Friday, which deferred hearing till June 5.

The hearing before the special CBI court was put off after one of the six accused sought more time to file some documents to a CBI plea in connection with the case.

Former UP secretary (environment) R K Sharma sought time to submit more documents to CBI's reply on his intervention application challenging a court order sanctioning prosecution of Mayawati and others in the Rs 175 crore Taj Corridor case.

Special judge (Anti-Corruption) Rekha [Images] Dixit adjourned the matter and fixed June 5 as the next date of hearing.

The CBI, which was given time till May 15 for filing the sanction for prosecution of the six accused persons including Mayawati, did not file the sanction on Friday.

During the hearing on May 23 also, the agency did not file the sanction. The agency had on May 15 moved an adjournment application seeking time to file the same.

The previous Mulayam Singh Yadav governemnt, had -- barely two days before the counting of votes on May 11 -- referred the CBI's request to Governor Rajeshwar.

Besides Mayawati and Sharma, other accused in the matter included former up environment minister and a close confidante of Mayawati, Naseemuddin Siddique, under secretary Rajendra Prasad and another former IAS officer V K Gupta.
