Actor Sanjay Dutt [Images] arrived at the special TADA court Tuesday morning where he is to be sentenced for illegal possession of weapons during the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.

Dressed in a white shirt and jeans and accompanied by his lawyers, a visibly tense Dutt waved to media persons and fans before entering the TADA court situated in the high security Central Jail at Arthur Road in central Mumbai.

Dutt has been convicted under the Arms Act for the illegal possession of an AK-56 assault rifle and a pistol, but was acquitted under TADA. He faces between five and 10 years in jail.

Dutt has sought an exemption of prison term under the Probation of Offenders Act, on which the court is also to give its order.

The TADA court has so far sentenced 96 of the 100 persons convicted for their role in carrying out serial blasts in the financial capital on March 12, 1993 killing 257 people and injuring 713.
