Claiming that the court case against her for allegedly insulting the national tricolour had been filed at the behest of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Bharatiya Janshakti Party chief Uma Bharti on Tuesday said she was ready to apologise for the same.

"The case for allegedly insulting the tricolour in Madhya Pradesh has been filed by a Congress worker at the behest of Sonia Gandhi but I am still ready to apologise for the same or adhere to the court verdict in the case," said Bharti, who was in Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh to launch second phase of Bharat Navnirman Janshakti Yatra.

"The national flag's honour is of utmost importance and I would do whatever required for the same," she said.

The case was filed in Bhopal on Monday by a Madhya Pradesh Congress leader for allegedly insulting the national flag during Tiranga Yatra soon after she had quit as the chief minister.

Apprehending large scale violence and irregularities during the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in case they were conducted under the Samajwadi Party government, she said the Congress too had the same doubts and wanted that they be held later under President's rule.

Criticising the Sachhar Committee report, she said it were indicative of appeasement policy and termed reservation on religious lines as a serious threat to the unity of the country.

On the coming assembly elections, Bharti said her party would contest all seats in Uttaranchal, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. The former BJP leader said that barring the saffron party, her party could forge pre or post poll alliance with any party on its terms.

Continuing her tirade against the BJP leaders, she said the party's recent Lucknow convention remained concentrated on prime ministerial candidate rather than discussing issues of national importance.

Bharti said that though all senior BJP leaders belong to Uttar Pradesh, the party would be rejected by the people in the coming elections as it has now been reduced to the crude photocopy of the Congress.
