Describing the outcome of the Gujarat assembly elections as historic, Chief Minister Narendra Modi [Images] said it will bring qualitative change in the prevailing Indian politics.
'This historical verdict of people of Gujarat will bring qualitative change in the prevailing Indian politics. The people have approved of the stable, efficient and transparent government which enhances their feeling of security,' a BJP release, quoting Modi, said in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
'The people of Gujarat have focussed only on development and once again it has been proved that they have trusted BJP as a partner in this march towards development. People have approved the work done by the government and have positively voted for continued growth and development. People have rejected anti-development mentality and have defeated the forces out to defame Gujarat,' he said.
'This verdict will uproot several old beliefs of the past such as that it is not possible to win elections on development agenda and good governance is bad politics,' Modi said, adding that by their verdict the people have assigned a special responsibility to him and he will continue to fulfill the expectations of people.'
Modi said that one part of the democratic process, namely elections are over and he will continue the march towards development with people's participation, which is its spirit. He said the credit for this victory does not belong to him or the BJP, but to the five-and-a-half crore Gujaratis.
The agenda for this election was not set by any political party but by the people. This victory is a sound proclamation of the people of Gujarat for Jeetega Gujarat (Gujarat will win), Modi added.
