Accusing the Left parties of working at China's behest, former Union minister Buta Singh has said the proposed Indo-US nuclear deal is in the interest of the nation.
"The Left parties are playing into the hands of China, which does not want the nuclear treaty get inked as it will make India more stronger. That obviously will not be in the interest of China," Singh told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.
Claiming that the treaty is transparent and will boost India's economy through peaceful use of nuclear technology, he said, "Credit of the treaty should go to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi [Images]."
"After signing the pact, India can use ultra modern nuclear technology for peaceful purpose and ultimately accomplish the target of developed India," he said.
Terming the Left parties capitalist forces, he said it was evident from the party's decision to set up Special Economic Zones in West Bengal, despite opposition from public.
Singh expressed hope that the deadlock would be resolved soon as such pressure tactics were always there in coalition governments and ultimately an amicable solution would be worked out.
