The Hyderabad police have booked a case against Majlis Bachao Tehreek leader Mohammed Farhatullah Khan for issuing death threats to controversial Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. 

The city police registered the case against Farhatullah, son of the late MBT founder and former MLA Mohammed Amanullah Khan, under Section 506 (pertaining to criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Farhatullah, also known as Mohammed Majidullah Khan, had declared that his party activists were all set to kill Taslima and accused the MIM activists for treating her with kid gloves and foiling his party men's plans.

Mir Chowk Assistant Commissioner of Police Ashok Kumar Singh said that "we approached the 8th Metropolitan Magistrate seeking permission to take up investigation against the MBT leader after seeing the clippings aired by some TV channels about his threatening statement. The court granted permission on Monday."

"We registered a case of criminal intimidation against MBT leader at Dabeerpura police station as we thought that the press conference was held at MBT office at Chanchalguda but transferred the case to Abids police station on learning that it was organised at a hotel in that area," the ACP added.
