Pakistan's former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly rejected the government's claims that there are various court cases pending against him. He also said he will soon return to his homeland.

"There is no case pending against me in any court. The fact that the National Accountability Bureau has approached courts to seek reopening of various cases is an attempt to block my return to Pakistan," the ex-premier in-exile told The Dawn on telephone from the United Arab Emirates.

Claiming that the government could not find any cases against him during the last eight years since he was exiled, Sharif said, "Now that I am planning to return home, the government has started talking of cases against me. Perhaps, Musharraf always thinks of illegal and immoral things."

However, he said that he will soon come back to the country no matter what the consequences are.

"Where else should I go? I am determined to come back to Pakistan," the daily quoted Sharif as saying.

But, he said he will be able to give a schedule of his return only after the Supreme Court's verdict. The former prime minister and his brother recently filed petitions in the apex court, seeking an end to their forced exile.
