A range of issues including bilateral relations, peace process with Maoists and upcoming Constituent Assembly elections in Nepal came up for discussion during a meeting between Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Indian Ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee on Wednesday.Mukherjee called on Koirala at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar.
During the half-an-hour meeting, Koirala discussed with Mukherjee India's assistance for the Constituent Assembly elections scheduled to be held in June this year and the latest political situation in Nepal, according to sources close to the prime minister.
The meeting also covered bilateral relations, ongoing peace process in Nepal and the agitation in the Terai region bordering India, they said.
Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (Goit), a breakaway faction of the Maoists, in Terai has announced that it would boycott the election to the Constituent Assembly election.
Some 70 people have been killed in the past three months in violence in Terai.
