A 23-year old Israeli student was found carrying a magazine containing 14 bullets in her baggage at the airport in Mumbai just before she was to take a flight to Delhi and was arrested under the Arms Act.

Noa Haviv, who had just landed in Mumbai on an Israeli Airlines flight, was about to board a connecting Jet Airways [Get Quote] flight to Delhi when the airline staff found out the magazine in her baggage during its screening, police said.

They said she managed to get a Customs clearance on landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Haviv told her interrogators that she was accidentally carrying the ammunition, which belonged to her accountant brother who stays in Israel and was licensed, the police said.

The necessary documents regarding the bullets and the magazine have been received by the police through the Israeli consulate in Mumbai, the police said adding, the girl will be produced in a Mumbai court on Friday.

Haviv, who was on an educational trip to India, has been booked under the provisions of Indian Arms Act and Aircraft Act, they added.
