Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda said on Wednesday that he had informed Governor Syed Sibtey Razi that he was in a position to prove his majority in the Assembly.

Munda, however, said that he had not sought any time frame from the Governor for the floor test.

Speaking to reporters at the Raj Bhavan after meeting the Governor, Munda asserted that he has the majority despite the resignation of four ministers from his cabinet.

He said that as the recent monsoon session had not been prorogued yet after being adjourned sine die, the Governor and Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari would take a decision on the matter.

Munda also said that he had reminded the Governor about a Supreme Court judgement in the S R Bommai case that a floor test should be taken in such a scenario.

Munda said that he met the Governor as he was yet to receive the resignation letters from his four ministers -- Enos Ekka, Madhu Koda, Harinarain Rai and Kamlesh Singh.

"The Superme Court verdict in the S R Bommai case clearly states that the House was the right place to prove majority," he said.

He had also reminded the Governor of how during the last Assembly elections he was given time to prove his majority.

"I hope the House should be convened to give me a chance, thereby honouring the democratic system," Munda said.
