Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha on Tuesday said he was satisfied that the TADA court did not find Sanjay Dutt [Images] guilty of the conspiracy charge leveled against him in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
Soon after the judgment, Sinha said, "I have always supported Sanjay Dutt. I am happy that he has been acquitted of conspiracy charges," he said.
Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, while hailing the court verdict, said, "I have known Sunil Dutt sahib and Sanjay. He is not the kind of person who would conspire against the nation. I am glad the court has given him a clean chit on that count," he said.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj and Congress' Abhishek Singhvi, both advocates, chose to restrict their comments to the basics.
They welcomed the judgment and said that until a superior court sets aside the judgment, Dutt would have to undergo whatever punishment is handed out to him.
