Five persons, including three pavement dwellers, suffered minor injuries after a speeding car hit them, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred late Sunday night after the car, heading towards Dockyard Road on Balwal Singh Dodhi Marg in Mazgaon in south Mumbai, hit two persons sitting on a parked motorcycle, they added.

The driver then lost control of the vehicle, ramming it into hutments on the roadside, injuring three more persons.

All the five injured have been admitted to JJ Hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.

Imtiaz Ahmed Ali (20), the driver of the car, has been arrested under Section 337 of the Indian Penal Code and the police said that he was not under the influence of liquor.

The accident comes a week after six youths in a car had rammed into a hutment in suburban Bandra, killing seven people and injuring over a dozen.
