Curfew was imposed in violence-hit Solapur for 12-hours beginning 8 am on Saturday, police said.

The decision to impose curfew was taken late on Friday night after the talks between Solapur Guardian Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil and the organisers of All Party Morcha, who were to take out a march demanding stern action against Dalit activists for violence in the city, failed.

The members of the morcha demanded action against those activists, who indulged in stone pelting and damaged public as well as private property during their protests over Dalit killings at Khairlanji in Bhandara district of Vidarbha.

Mohite-Patil arrived in Solapur to hold talks with the agitating leaders and to defuse tension in Solapur, which witnessed violence for over two days.
